Oil of Oregano: Nature's Powerful Antibiotic

Oil of Oregano: Nature's Powerful Antibiotic

Oil of Oregano is one of nature’s most potent antibiotics.  Didn’t get a flu shot this winter?  Maybe you don’t believe in them?  Don’t worry, there’s powerful natural help that can treat or prevent the flu this winter.  Use Oil of Oregano for colds and flu and other bacterial infections.

What is Oil of Oregano?

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is the herb used to make oil of oregano (also known as oregano essential oil), which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Even though Oregano was discovered by the Greeks over 2500 years ago, its earliest recording is by the Assyrians in 3000BC!  The name oregano actually comes from the Greek “oros” meaning mountain and “ganos” meaning joy, which translates as joy of the mountains.

It’s interesting to look back in history and learn what our ancestors knew about natural cures.  We’re just rediscovering what our ancestors already knew.

Nine Amazing benefits of Oil of Oregano

Acknowledged by the medical community as a natural alternative to traditional antibiotics.  Some of Oregano oil’s healing benefits include:

  • Fighting bacterial infections such as sinusitis, colds or bladder infections
  • Killing viruses such as the flu or herpes
  • Fungal infections,  use it to treat athlete’s feet by adding a few drops in a foot bath or directly to the infected area
  • Reduce the pain of toothache by applying the oil directly on the gums
  • Digestive problems – speeds up digestion by helping with the release of enzymes and increases nutrient absorption; cleans up unfriendly bacteria
  • Treats yeast infections such as candida
  • Fight off parasites; both internally and externally.  Apply topically to protect from mosquitoes and fleas (dilute before applying directly to skin).
  • Eases pain from inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, eczema and other inflammatory diseases (remember to dilute)
  • Prevents cancer by fighting off free radicals and repairing damaged cells and inhibiting tumor growth

What Makes Oil of Oregano So Potent?

Oil of Oregano has a powerful healing compound carvacrol.  It has anti-microbial properties that enable it to inhibit the growth of harmful microbes.

A recent search of the PubMed database revealed over 1,200 studies on carvacrol − a phenol that attacks bacteria. It breaks through the outer cell membrane that protects bacteria from being discovered by the immune system. This then allows the immune system to detect and destroy invading bacteria. Yet for healthy cells it is completely non-toxic, such is the wonder of nature.” https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/oregano-essential-oil/

The medical community has confirmed that Oil of Oregano is effective in eliminating bacteria without the threat of future bacterial resistance.  Here’s an excerpt from the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health database regarding the use oil of oregano:

Oregano oil also effectively eradicated biofilms formed by each of the 13 pathogens above at similar MICs. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that oregano oil damaged bacterial cells and altered the morphology of their biofilms. While efficiently inactivating bacteria, there was no evidence of resistance development after up to 20 consecutive passages of representative bacterial strains in the presence of sublethal doses of oregano oil.”   Bactericidal Property of Oregano Oil Against Multidrug-Resistant Clinical Isolates. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30344513

In addition to medical research, there are other many amazing stories around the web from people who used oil of oregano to treat everything from herpes to skin cancer.

My first Hand Experience With Oil Of Oregano

Oil of Oregano was recommended to me by a family member for my occasional bouts of sinusitis. As promised, it cleared up my sinus issues remarkably well.  In liquid form, one drop on the tongue, instantly cleared up my nasal passages.  I definitely recommend adding it to your health arsenal.

I learned shortly afterwards just how powerful this oil really was when I recommended it to a coworker who had the flu.  Why this coworker insisted on coming to work with the flu, I’ll never know.  It was a Friday afternoon, and myself and other coworkers were concerned with all the hacking and sneezing that would expose everyone else to the virus, or worse, maybe he had COVID.

I recommended the co-worker add a couple of drops of oil of oregano in water and sip throughout the day.  By the end of the day, he was feeling much better and asked me if he could take the oil home to use over the weekend.  When I saw him Monday, his flu was completely gone except for a few sniffles.  He was a big fan and so was I.  His recovery was miraculous (Yes, he gave me a new bottle of Oil of Oregano).

And now, at every sign of a cold, I take an Oil of Oregano capsule.   I continue to take it until all symptoms go away.  It works.

How To Buy Oil Of Oregano In Its Purest Form For Maximum Benefit

Check for the following before purchasing Oil of Oregano:

  • Is it additive-free?
  • Free of solvents
  • Is not diluted with other oils
  • Grown wild and hand picked

Before You Take Oil of Oregano, Here Are Some Warnings

Oil of Oregano is considered a “hot oil” and is really hard to take in liquid form.  I compare it to drinking gasoline and recommend that you take it in pill form.  If you’re brave enough to take it in liquid form, one drop on your tongue will clear up your nasal cavities instantly. If you take too big of a drop, it feels like the top of your head is exploding.

It is also recommended that if you use topically to dilute it with another carrier oil such as olive oil.

Pregnant women should not use as it interrupts iron absorption.

If you have uncontrolled blood pressure, it is not recommended for use.

Other Uses for Oil Of Oregano

Add a few drops in your laundry detergent to sanitize your wash; add it to your handmade soaps to cleanse skin deeply.
