Los Angeles Mid City Duplex Renovation Features Home Entertainment on Steriods

This past weekend our Team visited a neighboring Open House in Los Angeles’ Mid City Heights.  We’ve seen a lot of flips but none quite so stunning as this renovated duplex.   One unit had four bedrooms and the other three bedrooms.

 I must admit, in the past I haven’t been a big fan of the open living kitchen concept.  Part of the reason for this is the loss of cabinet space and minimal countertops.  However, I was very impressed with this renovation and use of the open space design execution.

No walls means more available natural light for all entertainment zones. Fewer walls also creates the illusion of a larger space.  The mixed use lighting highlights works well to separate entertainment zones and add extra lighting in the kitchen area.  This renovation provides lots of storage; and an island for additional storage and cooking preparation.

The kitchen/food prep area transitions nicely from the wood flooring used throughout the unit to  a gray slate tile.  Another seating area is adjacent to the kitchen with an area on the wall designated as a location for a television  I would personally like to see the television positioned so that it is viewable from the kitchen area.  Why should the chef miss out on the action from your sports event party?

I’m a big fan of area rugs and love the free use of them in the staging of both units.  In the Wintertime, there’s nothing like some toasty carpet underneath your feet.

Mid City Heights offers great views and this renovation took full advantage of the views by adding an outdoor entertaining area built over the garage and accessible from the living room of one of the units.   The light fabric used as covering provides protection from the sun and fluid enough to allow gentle breezes from the nearby ocean inside.
