Turmeric is an ancient spice that has been used for centuries in traditional Indian medicine. It is now being used as a natural remedy for many skin conditions, including acne and scars. Turmeric contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that can help reduce the appearance of acne and scars. It also has antiseptic properties that can help to reduce bacteria on the skin, which helps to prevent future breakouts. Additionally, turmeric may help to lighten dark spots caused by sun damage or aging. As a result, turmeric may be an effective natural remedy for many skin issues.

It’s quick and easy and only requires a few supplies from your local craft store, and of course, turmeric.
Here’s what you’ll need to make the Healing Turmeric Body Bar Soap:
Ingredients for your Turmeric Soap Bar
1 tsp of turmeric
2 lbs. of melt n pour soap (I used a three butter Melt and Pour soap base. It contains shea butter, mango butter and kokum butter). There are other options available such as goat milk, oatmeal, and shea butter. Choose an all-natural melt and pour soap base that is free of parabens, dyes, and harsh detergents.
Silicon Soap mold for six 3.5-ounce bars
Alcohol (70% or higher)
Spray bottle for the alcohol
Essential oil of your choice (optional). Because of possible sensitivities to essential oils, use no more than 1 tsp per 1 pound of soap. More is not always better. The soap I made is lightly scented as I only used about 5 drops of an essential oil blend.
Directions To Make your Healing Turmeric Body Soap Bars
Chop your soap into cubes and place in a heat resistant glass container. I used a glass measuring cup that holds 4 cups of chopped soap. Your four cups of chopped soap will melt down into 2 cups of liquid soap. It will melt down to half the size. The smaller you chop your soap, the easier it will be to melt.
Prepare your soap molds by spraying lightly with alcohol. Don’t worry the alcohol will dissipate and will not be a part of your final product. The alcohol is used to disinfect the molds, and later we’ll spray our poured soap to dissipate air bubbles on top of the soap.
There are two different methods to melt your soap, double boiler method, or microwave.
Microwave Method
Using the microwave method, melt your soap base in 30 second bursts. It should take about 90 seconds. The reason for the 30 second bursts is to make sure you don’t burn the soap, which is easy to do in the microwave. Stir in between each burst in the microwave.
Double Boiler Method
Using the double boiler method, place your dish of soap in a large pan and fill the pan ½ to dish of soap container. Heat on low heat and stir frequently. Stirring will help your soap melt faster. When your water starts to boil your soap should be melted.
Once Your Soap Is Melted
Once your soap is melted, remove from the heat source and stir in the teaspoon of turmeric along with the optional essential oil. Stir well, it may take a bit to blend in the turmeric and your final products may have some flecks of turmeric. Eliminate the after product flecks, by blending the turmeric in a few drops of alcohol before stirring into your soap base.
Once everything is blended, pour the soap into your molds. I made five bars in my mold and used the last of the soap in my favorite heart shaped soap mold. Use your alcohol spray to burst any soap bubbles remaining on top of your soap.
How To Unmold Your Turmeric Body Soap Bars
Let your soap harden before removing from the mold. They will be hard in approximately one hour and 30 minutes. Before removing from the mold, you can touch them gently to make sure they’re ready to remove from the mold. When they’re hard to the touch, ready, your soap bars should easily removable by flexing the silicon soap mold.
Here’s the finished product, your healing Turmeric Body Bar. Enjoy and be sure to share with friends and family. They’ll be grateful for your thoughtful gift.
